Project Details
Description
The Kashmir-based project will contribute to and advance the symbiotic wool trade relationship between Australia and India through interventions to integrate the Circular Economy in the Wool Value Chain. The key outputs stem from the analysis/ dissemination of Flinders research Report centred on CI Saikia's well-recognised methodology. This tool will investigate the following project impacts: catalysation of policy discourse/media attention regarding Australia's friendship with India/Kashmir given its geopolitical position/strategic value; improvements in SME production sustainability through waste-to-wealth solutions; SME absorption of training in solar-powered waste wool, processing and Geographical Identification Tags apropos EU policy to reduce carbon emissions in the large carbon footprint fashion and textile industries.
Layman's description
This project aims to strengthen the wool trade between Australia and India, especially in Kashmir, by promoting a Circular Economy approach, which emphasises reducing waste and reusing materials. The project will focus on practical solutions like transforming waste wool into valuable products, using solar-powered processes, and training small businesses to improve their sustainability. It will also highlight how this trade relationship supports Australia and India's friendship, especially considering Kashmir's important location. Another goal is to help small businesses meet new European Union policies that aim to reduce the high carbon emissions of the fashion and textile industries by using eco-friendly practices and official product labels.
