Project Details
Description
In criminal investigations, eyewitnesses sometimes encounter a suspect’s face between the crime and their final memory test from a lineup, a problematic practice that has attracted considerable research attention. This intervening procedure might consist of witness searches for images on social media or viewing of mugshots arranged by police. The proposed research will test the impact of delayed intervening procedures on eyewitness accuracy. (Note: Funding already awarded by Bates College - see under Grant Application heading. Of this funding approx $US 3225 (~ SAU 5000) has been budgeted to pay postdoc Dr Carmen Lucas on a casual basis for relevant software development, setting up online experiment and data analysis. Participant payment etc will run out of Bates College.)
