Abstract
Delirium is a common source of suffering for ICU patients and caregivers. Yet, there are definitional, measurement, and intervention uncertainties for delirium-related emotional distress. Understanding the patient and caregiver psychological experience of delirium would enable development of supportive interventions. We sought to understand patient and caregiver delirium experiences and their perspective on mediators of delirium-related emotional distress.
