Abstract
In Australia, most people entering alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment smoke tobacco. Organisational systems change approaches have been found to be feasible and acceptable for integrating smoking cessation support into routine care. The
primary aim of this trial is to determine the effectiveness of an organisational change intervention in increasing verified 7-day point prevalence abstinence at 6 weeks follow-up. Secondary outcomes examined included self-reported abstinence, quit attempts, reductions in cigarettes smoked and self-reported use of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) at 6 weeks and 6 months.
