Abstract

Background: Integrated multi-disease POCT programs in primary health care are uncommon globally. The Australian First Nations Molecular POCT Program is a large, decentralised network offering POCT for 7 infectious diseases with results available in <2 hours: 4 respiratory infections [SARS-CoV-2, influenza (Flu) A, Flu B, and respiratory syncytial virus] and 3 sexually transmissible infections (STIs), [Chlamydia trachomatis/Neisseria gonorrhoeae (CT/NG), and Trichomonas vaginalis (TV)]). POCT is conducted by trained primary healthcare professionals in >100 regional and remote health services.
