Abstract
When I was at school in the eastern states of Australia, Bass and Flinders came as a package. I barely knew them as separate entities until the 1980s when I came to South Australia, where Flinders had a much higher profile. However, in recent years there has been much more published on Flinders than on Bass, for various reasons that Josephine Bastian’s new book makes clear.
