Abstract

A key strength of cardiovascular medicine lies in its constant evolution, shaped by ongoing clinical research, the development of therapeutic innovations, and improvements in patient outcomes. Published in this issue of Heart, Lung and Circulation is the 2025 edition of the National Heart Foundation (NHF)/Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) Guideline [1], which updates recommendations nearly a decade old. This new edition marks a significant step forward, reflecting our evolving understanding of myocardial infarction (MI) in an era defined by high sensitivity troponin, modern risk stratification protocols, and evolving therapeutic strategies informed by recent clinical trials.
