Abstract

Introduction & Objectives: Latrogenic injury of the bladder or ureter is a known complication of abdominal, pelvic or vaginal surgery. Potential sequelae include haemorrhage, sepsis, renal loss and death (1-3). The majority of such injuries occur secondary to caesarean section and hysterectomy, with a rising proportion now due to ureteroscopy. We aimed to systematically review iatrogenic bladder and ureteric injuries sustained during caesarean section and hysterectomy.
