Accountability in Scope
Being accountable means that one is called toaccount for one’s actions. It sounds quite simple, but any analysis must understand the context ofthe actions and the authority by which the personacts. If one is in a position of authority, then in awell-functioning or ethical society that authoritycarries a responsibility – a responsibility to act inthe interests of those who confer that authority anda responsibility to be transparent in exercising thatauthority.
