Abstract

The diverse range of needs experienced by people affected by life-limiting illness means that health professionals working in a range of settings, from various disciplinary backgrounds, will have a role in the provision of care. Registered and Enrolled Nurses are the largest group of health care professionals who provide care to people with life-limiting conditions across all settings. These nurses have a unique and central role in the team as they respond to the range of physical,
emotional, social and spiritual needs of people with a life-limiting illness and promote continuity of care across the care trajectory.
