Abstract

The study is predominately qualitative and used a semi-structured interview questionnaire to interview Afghan women in and outside Afghanistan, exploring their role and involvement in the drug trade, motivations for entering and remaining in the trade, the business model and drug trafficking networks.
The report also draws upon secondary data from multiple sources, including UNODC’s previous research, publications and academic literature on women’s involvement in drug trafficking at a global level.
