Abstract

As the Australian population ages and the prevalence of chronic, sometimes life-limiting diseases increases, so to does the demand for palliative care with its
emphasis on quality of life. Allied health (AH) professionals are expected to have a key role in meeting this demand. Representing more than a quarter of the Australian health workforce and delivering approximately 200 million health services annually, allied health is an important and major contributor to the Australian system of care.
