Abstract

Sensory nerves carry information from sensory receptors in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) to the brain for interpretation and subsequent action.
The motor nervous system is responsible for all muscle contraction and hormone release, and its integrity and functionality are of profound importance. Evaluation of motor function is important for identifying injury and mitigating the repercussions of traumatic injury.
This chapter discuss the PNS anatomy, physiology and sensory and motor nerve assessment.
