El estado de Veracruz cuenta con una superficie de 72,410 km
, y posee por ello el 3.7% de la superficie total del país. Se localiza en las inmediaciones del Golfo de Méxi-co, formando una faja de 754 km de longitud, alargada y angosta, con un ancho variable entre 36 km en su segmento más angosto, y hasta 212 km en el más amplio. Su territorio abarca 212 mu-nicipios que se agrupan en diez regiones: Huastecas Alta y Baja, Nautla, Totonaca, ciudad capital, las montañas, Sotavento, Papaloa-pan, Los Tuxtlas y Olmeca.
The state of Veracruz has an area of 72,410 km, and therefore owns 3.7% of the country's total area. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Gulf of Mexico, forming a strip of 754 km long, elongated and narrow, with a variable width between 36 km in its narrowest segment, and up to 212 km in the widest. Its territory covers 212 municipalities that are grouped into ten regions: Huastecas Alta and Baja, Nautla, Totonaca, capital city, the mountains, Sotavento, Papaloa-pan, Los Tuxtlas and Olmeca.
