Abstract

An auditory motor channeling deficit hypothesis for Down's syndrome individuals was tested incorporating modality, distraction, and patterning variables and maintaining uniformity of motor output. While the overall findings did not support the hypothesis, there was evidence that auditory motor channeling difficulty does occur more frequently for Down's syndrome subjects than for other retarded subjects under conditions whcih possibly relate to difference of inhibitory facility.
