Abstract

In countries like Australia where corruption is not systemic, many instances of corruption in procurement still exist. This occurs where there is the opportunity as well as a motivated offender. Opportunity usually arises because of poor processes, bad organizational culture, and people choosing to exploit these. This chapter uses Australian case studies to explain the role of one anti-corruption agency in detection and prevention. It explores the various red flags that can alert us to corruption in procurement.
