Abstract
We thank Keskin for the interest in our work and agree with his comments.
Specifically, we agree that all hepatitis B patients should be routinely assessed for other blood-borne viruses (hepatitis C virus, human immunodeficiency virus and delta hepatitis), and this is consistent with recently published Australian Consensus recommendations. However, it has been observed by our group and others that delta hepatitis is very rare or non-existent in Indigenous Australian populations, so the value of routine testing in this population is uncertain.
