Abstract
Robots have become increasingly sophisticated and versatile, supporting manufacturing and service delivery alike, enabling new activities as well as those previously exposing humans to dangerous environments. But robots are also changing from tools that assisted and followed the instructions of those who used them to tools that instruct their users what to do as well as influencing how to behave. This chapter explores the lessons learned from innovative uses of robots in complex and often dangerous work situations, with a specific focus on the changing human factors and ergonomics considerations for workplaces, drawing on local examples and international literature.
