Abstract

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Student: “… if kids are in a situation where they are not in a great state, then it's [Big Talks…] gonna (sic) help them to figure out ways to help their bodies regulate and to be kinder to others”

Teacher: “I think it's great. I love the videos. I think they provide a lot of information and they're very relatable for students and I think the students are enjoying them as well. They like their Feels ... it's very good. I, yeah, I think it's a very good program”

Background
The 10 lesson Big Talks for Little People Primary School Health and Physical Education - Mental Health Education Program for each of Year 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 reported here is one part of a program of research and education initiatives at the primary school level that includes:
• A 6 lesson 35-45 minute Australian Schools Program linked to the Australian Curriculum General Capabilities for use in care group/home group/wellbeing lessons.
• A 6 lesson 35-45 minute International Schools Program.
• A 6 session 15-20 minute Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program.

The Big Talks … Programs develop student mental health literacy and are based on the idea that ‘’you are never too young to talk about mental health’’.
