Book Review: Staying Attached: Fathers and Children in Troubled Times

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In Staying Attached: Fathers and Children in Troubled Times, Barnes offers insight into the various ways fathers can be supported in raising their children. Based on her clinical work and drawing on psychological and sociological research, this book is an excellent contribution to help practitioners, researchers, and families. Barnes does not treat fathers as a homogenous group, accounting for the vast spectrum of experiences of fathering. Rather than focus on what fathers are not doing, or where they are lacking, Barnes focuses on what fathers are doing well, and what more can be done to encourage father involvement.
