Abstract

In the context of the French contract to build Australia’s next generation of submar-ines, the French district ofBretagne, which holds some of the program’s infrastructure,has developed a sister-region relationship with South Australia, the state that will buildthe ships. As a result, France’s westernmost territory has recently received considerableexposure and interest in South Australia. In January 2019, Adelaide’s French Festivalwas Brittany-themed to showcase to South Australians their new sister-region.
