Abstract

In 2017, Cancer Council SA commissioned a series of questions to assess knowledge and prevalence of risk factors for cancer in the South Australian Health Omnibus Survey (HOS). The HOS is a state-wide, annual face-to-face survey of approximately 3,000 respondents aged 15 years and over. In 2017, 2,977 interviews were completed, with an overall response rate of 57.0%. Key results were compared to the most recent Cancer Council SA 2012–2015 Strategic Plan targets, and core objectives of the Cancer Council SA 2016–2019 Strategy to Beat Cancer relevant to the HOS. These are provisionally noted as retained 2017 board targets for the purposes of the current report. At the time of reporting, updated board targets were yet to be released.
