Abstract

In 2018, Cancer Council SA commissioned a series of questions to assess knowledge and prevalence of risk factors for cancer in the South Australian Population Health Survey (SAPHS). The SAPHS is a state-wide, annual ‘omnibus-type’ primarily Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) survey of approximately 3,000 respondents aged 15 years and over. In 2018, 3002 interviews were completed, with an overall response rate of 95.3%. Key results were compared to the most recent Cancer Council SA 2012–2015 Strategic Plan
targets, and core objectives of the Cancer Council SA 2016–2019 Strategy to Beat Cancer relevant to the SAPHS. These are provisionally noted as retained 2018 board targets for the purposes of the current report. At the time of reporting, updated board targets were yet to be released.
