Abstract

The carbon neutral city has many iterations but can be broadly perceived as a transformative roadmap to deeply decarbonize urban centers through the reformation of energy, transportation, built environment, and solid waste sectors while offsetting any remaining emissions through carbon sequestration projects and trading schemes. Carbon Neutral Adelaide is one example of an Australian Central Business District that has formulated and adopted a Carbon Neutral Action Plan in a bid to become a global leader in urban climate governance.
