Child Health and Parent Review

Research output: Book/ReportConfidential report

Abstract

Background and purpose: This report serves as a starting point into the Department for Education’s inquiry into child health and parenting services and supports in South Australia. This report complements the Royal Commission’s findings and recommendations in relation to early childhood education and care, by providing a stronger understanding of child health and parenting supports, how they are supporting children and their families, and how they are working together, as critical elements of an Early Years System.

Project objectives
One: Define child health and parenting services, identify which are critical in a universal Early Years System, and identify opportunities to integrate or stack these services.
Two: Provide a clear picture of the child health and parenting services available in South Australia and highlight potential barriers to access and opportunities for integration.
Three: Identify innovations in child health and parenting service delivery in Australia.
Four: Identify stakeholder and consumer perspectives on gaps and opportunities for improving child health and parenting service delivery in the South Australian Early Years System.

Data sources Data was collected via a rapid review, desk-based environmental scan, 14 consultations with key stakeholders within South Australia, and 37 interviews with South Australian caregivers and service providers.
