    Abstract

    Pharmacists have a unique opportunity in the healthcare system to effect change on the use of medicines. Pharmacists graduate and become registered with a good general standard of knowledge. Building and developing that knowledge is critical to ensure safe patient outcomes and the advancement of the pharmacy profession. This session will focus on aspects of the role of the clinical educator in enabling pharmacists to be proactive in collaborating with medical colleagues to improve patient care and conduct research, the importance of keeping knowledge contemporary, and assessing competencies of pharmacists in the clinical hospital environment.
