Abstract
The Women’s and Children’s Foundation secured philanthropic and Commonwealth funding to build a Community Health and Wellbeing Hub across from the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
This funding will enable the Foundation, along with partners and community, to provide a welcoming space dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of families in Adelaide’s north. The aim is to offer a range of programs and services with a focus on child health, development, maternal health, and parenting support.
Planning and design to date has identified that this building will compromise of three levels, with the ground level functioning as an entrance and space for community services, the second level functioning as interdisciplinary health and family services, and the third level providing sleep rooms to support parents of babies in Lyell McEwin Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.
To aid in the building development, Flinders University facilitated a workshop to bring together the organisations and community parties to collaboratively explore service needs that could be provided within the new building. This aligns with a medium-term goal of developing and operating collaborative models of care and service provision.
This report provides an overview of the workshop, the outcomes, and recommendations to consider for the development of the Community Health and Wellbeing Hub program and services offering.
