Abstract

Pool et al. [2014] applied numerical simulations to study tidal fluctuations impacts on mixing and spreading of seawater intrusion salinity in a homogeneous coastal aquifer. As a part of their study, they considered the influence of landward boundary conditions and concluded that in contrast to Ataie‐Ashtiani et al. [1999] findings their results were independent of the landward boundary conditions. In this comment, the reasons for this important discrepancy are explained.
