Abstract

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infections globally and pose a significant health care burden. Like many infections, their severity, duration, and recurrence vary considerably and are often difficult to predict. Urinary tract infections that arise after the use of indwelling urinary catheters, or catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), form a distinct healthcare problem.
