Abstract

The exact method based on the theorem on quasiequilibrated motions of incompressible elastic bodies is used to show that the differential equation governing the oscillations of the cylinder obtained in the above paper is correct despite the use of an erroneous approach. Furthermore, the similarity between the oscillations due to a pressure impulse and impulsive angular velocity is pointed out, thereby making it possible to derive most of the results from an earlier paper dealing with pressure impulse.
