Abstract
We are proud to bring you this Special Conference issue of the International Journal of Speech-Language Pathology, featuring seven papers from the 2024 Speech Pathology Australia Conference, held in stunning Perth, and four additional contributions that together embody the conference’s theme: Communicating for Life.
This theme captures the essence of what speech-language pathologists (SLPs) strive to do, that is, to support communication as a human right and a vital element of participation, identity, and wellbeing. Across age, ability, culture, and context, communication enables people to connect, learn, grow, and thrive. The papers in this issue reflect the diverse and evolving ways our profession meets that need, with research and practice grounded in real-world challenges and human stories.
