Abstract

In 2016-17, we conducted a study called Connecting Our
People: how can connectedness be achieved in hub-andspoke organisations? That study aimed to inform and to provide opportunities to enhance staff communication and connectedness in Australian country community service organisations that manage their operations using variations of a hub-and-spoke model.
The study we report on herein aimed to follow up and build on our previous work, and in addition, to explore the extent to which online face-to-face tools can replace in-person staff training without losing the benefits of these being in person. In our comparison between the two survey points, we frame our findings according to the three main types of connectedness that we found in the 2016/17 study: top-down connectedness, network connectedness and cross-organisational
connectedness.
