Abstract

This report provides an overview of some of the broad employment and skills development implications of major factors such as climate change and the introduction of the Clean Energy Future Package along with ageing and the proposed expansion of the Olympic Dam mine. It is designed to inform decision-‐making and identify some mechanisms that might assist the City of Playford to maximise the employment and training opportunities that flow from significant changes that are taking place. Local government can play a key role in helping to facilitate the development of co-ordinated regional workforce development strategies that maximise the opportunities available from the expansion of Olympic Dam and the movement towards a low carbon economy.
