Abstract
We dedicate this issue of the Journal of Clinical Nursing to guest editor and International Learning Collaborative (ILC) steering group member, Professor Erik Elgaard Sørensen. Erik had the true heart of a nurse and the spirit of a great leader. He was a staunch advocate for fundamental care, patient rights, dignity in care and nursing research. Erik was a man of great integrity whose commitment to the principles of justice and inclusion were manifest in his career as a clinical nursing leader in Aalborg University Hospital and Aalborg University.
