Abstract

Summary: The numbers of B and T lymphocytes were measured in nine patients with chronic hypoplastic marrow failure and significant depletion of B but not of T lymphocytes was found. The lesion in the disease therefore appears to affect lymphopoiesis in addition to myelopoiesis. Study of surface immunoglobulin markers in three patients provided no evidence of clonal nature of the lymphocytes in the disease.
