Abstract

Due to the labor-intensive nature of the hospitality industry and its diverse stakeholders, such as customer and workforce, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is crucial. Researchers from various disciplines have captured DEI’s changing trends in the hospitality context to understand its meaning, relationships, best DEI management practices, and outcomes. The purpose of this chapter is to present trends that led to the growth of diversity and its management in the hospitality industry. In addition, it presents the aims of this handbook and provides an overview of its structure, component parts, chapters, and topics covered, which highlights the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the hospitality industry.
