Abstract
The problem of identifying the relationship between changes of natural environment and long-term subsistence trends is examined. Special attention is directed to the analysis of changing spatial relationships between site location and major topographic variables. The effect of sea-level change on a narrow coastal plain is emphasized. Suggests that subsistence trends may have been affected in a complex manner, either directly or indirectly, by environmental changes, and that disentangling the relative influence of environmental and cultural variables on subsistence trends is further complicated by changes in patterns of refuse disposal. -Author
