Abstract
I am delighted and honoured to take on the Presidency of the Australian New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS). I am also grateful to the editor of this journal for the invitation to write an editorial setting out my thoughts for the months and years ahead. I should note that the Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences is the official journal of the ANZFSS and therefore ask everyone to consider submitting future papers to this journal.
First, I must put on record my absolute thanks to the outgoing executive for their tireless work. ANZFSS has benefited over their tenure in so many ways. There is now a centralized and streamlined membership application and renewal system. The constitutions of the branches have been harmonized. Financially, the society is on a secure footing. Booking local talks is simple using event booking. There is a repository for recorded talks. And the professional membership category has been accepted by the ANZFSS at the AGM in Auckland.
