Editorial Introduction

This issue celebrates Johann Arnason’s 80th Birthday. He might have preferred his birthday to go unnoticed, but we’re having none of it. Johann has been a formative intellectual influence for each of us, as well as a central supporter of – and participant in – our Social Imaginaries project. He has been part of the project since its inception more than 10 years ago; he was the first person with whom we shared the idea (he jumped aboard immediately). His contribution to the Social Imaginaries project has always surpassed his formal role with us. Indeed, it has been so significant that we count him an honorary member of the Social Imaginaries Editorial Collective.
