Abstract
Hematologic emergencies may have protean manifestations, and recognition and management of some of the relatively common haematological emergencies has been outlined below. While a detailed account of each condition is beyond the scope of this text, the typical features and a brief guide to treatment is given.

■ The neutropenic patient with fever
■ Hyperviscosity
