Abstract

The end of era of globalisation and the new international order, including new markets and economic and trade opportunities, are emerging. The Modern Middle East and North Africa’s economies are fast growing, not solely based on oil and gas exports, but based on foreign investment, innovation, civil aviation modern and smart technology, and tourism. This chapter, discuss the importance of international trade and investment with the Middle Eastern and North African countries, including the need for new knowledge and understanding of the region, including its interaction with the wider world. The chapter briefly discuss 7 significant themes, in relation to trade and investment interaction with the region as discussed in this book. These include emerging international geopolitical realities, trade and financial services and investment in relation to MENA region, building cultural, trade and education connections, technology and defence, sustainability environmental concern, and aged care.
