Abstract

Background and Aim: The disparities in key, quality-of-life outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males, such as life expectancy, education and employment are well documented. This research project sought to develop and test new strengths-based, holistic, and innovative approaches to support the social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males living in Nauiyu; a very remote community of the Northern Territory (NT).

Purpose of Report: To provide an update of the project and present findings from the first iteration of interviews evaluating the Nauiyu men’s group. To describe how the men’s group was co-designed, the activities during group sessions and participants’ experiences, and to outline future plans for the men’s group and next steps of the research.
