On 28 February 2025, two corrections were applied to this manuscript to ensure the description of study participants is accurate: 1. In the methods section on page 41, the description originally read: “…study that surveys people who currently smoke or quit smoking within the last 2 years.8 Survey waves are conducted every 12–18 months, and participants lost to follow-up are replenished by new participants.
