Abstract
This co-design special issue asked researchers to partner with participants in the research process, to present lived experiences of co-design, to show what the co-design process looked like and contribute to co-design policy for rural and remote health research. Sincere thanks to all authors for putting in the hard yards to writing during difficult times of 2021–2022 (COVID, floods, Russian war on Ukraine and national political change). We could see the sense of rural grit and remote resilience coming through the pages when almost every article referred moving from face-to-face to online methods of engagement due to the COVID pandemic.
