    Abstract

We implemented an Inquiry based laboratory (IB) on the topic of Radioactivity for non-physics majors in semester 2, 2012. Students were given five recipe-based laboratories and an Inquiry based laboratory. To be in phase with the topic delivery, we offered this IB laboratory as a third laboratory. Content-specific reading materials on Radioactivity and smoke detectors were given before the laboratory to help students acquire prior knowledge to design their own experiment incorporating innovation and experimental techniques.
