Factors contributing to community resilience in Loxton Waikerie

Research output: Book/ReportCommissioned report

Abstract

Community resilience is a critical factor that determines how effectively communities can respond to, recover from, and adapt to challenges such as economic downturns, natural disasters, and social disruptions. In the context of Loxton and Waikerie, two regional communities in South Australia, understanding and enhancing community resilience is particularly important due to their unique socio-economic and environmental contexts.

In this report, community resilience is assessed based on four key capitals: social capital, economic capital, community assets, and entrepreneurship. This comprehensive approach recognises that resilience is not merely a function of economic strength or physical infrastructure, but also depends on the social dynamics, community resources, and entrepreneurial spirit within the community.
