Abstract
Health is fundamental to the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. We live in an age of ever-increasing access to information about health, and greater expectations of individual participation and autonomy in knowledge exchange and decisions about health. This is coupled with an ever-ageing population and growing complexity of chronic conditions within global healthcare systems that struggle to keep up with this growing demand.
