    Abstract

History Australia has come west, or at least southwest. For the next three years, the editorship of the journal has been entrusted to a team based at Flinders University in Adelaide. Not only is it the first time the editorship has crossed the Hay Plain and the Mallee, it is also the first time the journal has been hosted by one of Australia’s second-generation Innovative Research Universities. All this when the journal has completed a transition to a new press and shifted from three to four issues per year. This might give the impression that the journal has embarked on a new course. In practical, terms much might have changed, however the journal’s aims and its content continue to reflect our commitment to History Australia’s role of providing a forum for bold, high-quality research into history and its applications. Alongside new work of established historians, the journal will continue to foster the next generation of historians by offering an outlet for their research.
