Abstract

A performance poet, playwright, screenwriter, ex-actor, stand-up comedian and activist of Torres Strait Islander descent, John Harding was born in an inner city suburb of Melbourne, Australia in 1961. One of seven children, Harding's bothers and sisters include a number of well-known visual artists, actors and dancers such as Destiny Deacon and Clinton Nain. A born entertainer with lots of "street cred," good humoured charm and nervous energy, Harding's passionate concern about the challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is never far from the surface.
