Abstract

An overview is given of laboratory experiments designed to introduce the students to solventless reactions and to promote an appreciation for the full potential of this technique. The experiments also allow for discussions about the organic mechanisms involved in the overall process. The students also gain experience in NMR ( 1 H and 13 C) and IR spectrographic methods.
